The case measures 46 mm, marginally smaller than the standard Moto Watch, and carries a 5 ATM rating for swim use. Controls remain triple-input: touchscreen, digital crown, and a secondary side button. The dial layout retains three complications. The back plate swaps the existing sensor module for a larger PPG array — five LEDs paired with four oversized photodiodes — targeting more accurate heart rate and possible SpO2 sampling. A conductive ring around the sensor housing could function as ECG, BIA, or EDA hardware, though Motorola has not confirmed any of those readings.
Connectivity and platform unknowns
The Ultra integrates a GPS module and a built-in LTE modem, enabling route tracking and notifications without a paired phone. Pricing, launch window, and operating system remain undisclosed. The decisive variable is software: Motorola can either retain the current RTOS stack or migrate to Wear OS, which would change app compatibility, update cadence, and developer support. Until that detail lands, the spec sheet reads as competitive on paper and unresolved on ecosystem.

Verify four data points when official documentation drops: confirmed sensor list (ECG, BIA, EDA), LTE band support for the target market, battery capacity under mixed GPS and always-on display load, and OS lock-in. The Ultra's positioning against the $699 Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 — 47 mm, sapphire lens, 5,000-nit AMOLED, dual-frequency GPS — will hinge on whether Motorola undercuts Samsung on price or matches it on sensor breadth.
