Samsung Confirms Galaxy S26 FE and Tab S12 Launch Timeline for Later This Year
Samsung confirmed on its Q2 earnings call that the Galaxy S26 FE and Galaxy Tab S12 will hit shelves later this year, according to CNET.

Daniel Araujo, head of Samsung's strategic planning group for mobile experience, framed the S26 FE as a way to "maintain S26 momentum" after the S26 lineup drove increased smartphone sales last quarter. If you're sitting on an upgrade decision, this timeline matters — and so does the price tag.
What's confirmed, and what's still rumor
Araujo pegged both products for the second half of 2026. SamMobile leaks — treat them as leaks, not announcements — point to an August or September S26 FE window with an Exynos 2500 chip, Android 17-based One UI 9, a 6.7-inch display carried over from the S25 FE, three rear cameras, a 4,900 mAh battery and 45W wired charging. The rumored $800 starting price is the line that should make you pause. That's MSRP territory for a "Fan Edition" device, not a discount play.
On tablets, Android Police reports the Tab S12 line may ship in only two variants — Ultra and Plus — with no base model. The Plus allegedly carries a 12.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel, a Dimensity 9500 chip, 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage and a 10,500mAh-plus battery. September or October is the expected window.
The strategy — and what it does to your wallet
Samsung just unloaded a stack of foldables and watches at its July Unpacked event; preorders are now live. The S26 FE is being slotted in as a volume driver, and the Tab S12 extends the hardware cycle deeper into H2. From a deal hunter's perspective, that sequencing is a tell. The S25 FE and Tab S11 launched in September last year, and prior-generation inventory historically drops the moment a new model hits preorder. That's your opening.
Run the numbers: at a five-year ownership window, a $800 device comes out to $160 per year before any software lock-in costs. The S25 FE, once discounted post-announcement, is the cheaper annual play. On tablets, hold two to four weeks after the Tab S12 reveal before buying — early adopters absorb the artificial markup.
One adjacent warning worth tracking while you wait: Mashable reports that S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra owners are logging significant battery drain and overheating after a July 26 security update, with no official Samsung comment yet.
