Galaxy Z Flip 8 rumors: Release date, colors, specs, and more

What the leaks actually say

The hardware picture, per multiple outlets: a 6.9-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X main panel at 120Hz, a 4.1-inch cover screen also at 120Hz, a 4,300mAh battery with 25W wired charging and wireless support. Chipset split mirrors last year — Exynos 2600 globally, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the US. Rear camera stack reportedly unchanged from the previous generation. Colorways: Cream, Graphite, and Pink (lighter and more pastel than last year's Coral Red), with Mint returning as a Samsung.com-exclusive shade.

Engadget tied the lack of a major redesign partly to industry-wide memory chip shortages. PhoneArena's reviewer called recent updates to the line incremental — new chipset, new AI features, new colors, no structural changes. The Shortcut put it bluntly: the Flip 8 gets the least amount of upgrades of any new Samsung foldable this year.

The deal math buyers should run now

Incremental hardware at a flagship foldable MSRP is the worst cost-per-year proposition in the lineup. If the Flip 7 stays in stock post-July 22, expect aggressive clearance pricing from carriers and retailers cutting into Flip 8 launch margins — that's the real window. Z Flip 8 preorders, once announced, carry zero scarcity premium; the leaks already killed the surprise.

Then there's the unconfirmed but loud rumor from SamMobile citing X account @fireuniverse8: the Flip 8 could be the final clamshell in the Z Flip line, with Samsung allegedly pivoting resources to the Fold family. Unverified — but if it holds, last-of-the-line status historically supports residual value on day-one units while killing long-term software support arguments.

When to click buy

Wait for July 22 official pricing. Compare Flip 8 launch MSRP against Flip 7 street price the same week — if the gap is under 20%, buy the Flip 7 and pocket the delta. If Flip 8 launches at parity with negligible Flip 7 discounts, hold another 60 to 90 days: foldable depreciation curves are steep in months two through four. Skip the Pink marketing push; Samsung-exclusive Mint is only worth it if you're buying unlocked direct.
