Samsung Galaxy Unpacked preview: Everything we expect from the July event
Samsung's next Galaxy Unpacked is locked for July 22 in London, and the data points to the broadest foldable refresh Samsung has shipped in a single cycle.

Foldable configuration shifts
The Z Fold 8 enters as a wider-format device, not a direct Z Fold 7 successor. Leaked dimensions point to a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner panel when unfolded — a ratio that mirrors the rumored foldable iPhone form factor. The Z Fold 8 Ultra occupies the top-tier slot with an updated Snapdragon processor, a 200MP main camera, and a less visible crease on the folding display. The Z Flip 8 follows the same trajectory: chassis close to the Z Flip 7, reworked hinge, lighter build, better processor.
Camera counts diverge between reports. One outlet indicates the base Z Fold 8 may ship with two rear sensors to control cost, while the Ultra retains three. Final charging wattage on the Ultra remains unconfirmed beyond "possibly faster" phrasing in early leaks.
Cost pressure from the RAM shortage
The global RAM shortage is the structural variable underneath this Unpacked. Multiple outlets flag year-over-year price increases across the foldable lineup, with one leak headline referencing price hikes for the Z Fold 8 family. Pre-order incentives are already live: Samsung is offering a $30 credit tied to a reservation ahead of the event.
A separate deal reported by ZDNET cites $1,230 off the Galaxy Z Fold 8 for qualifying customers, though full qualification terms aren't detailed in available coverage. The arithmetic matters: if MSRP climbs as leaks suggest, the effective post-credit delta narrows. Treat the $30 reservation credit as a hold deposit, not a discount commitment.
Wearables, glasses, and what to track
Two watches are expected, with the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 carrying the most substantive hardware changes: thinner bezel, redesigned side buttons, numerals reintroduced to the watch face. The Galaxy Watch Classic appears to be skipped this cycle. Galaxy Glasses debut without AR or heads-up display — cameras and Google Gemini integration only. One outlet notes Samsung may hold full reveals of some wearables and the glasses for later in the fall.
The event streams at 9 AM ET / 6 AM PT on Samsung.com and YouTube. Three data points decide upgrade timing on July 22: confirmed MSRP per foldable variant, the Z Fold 8 Ultra's final camera and charging configuration, and whether Galaxy Glasses ship at the event or slip to a later window. Hold the pre-order — don't place it.
